Privacy notice

What we collect

If you subscribe by email, we store your email address, the date you subscribed, and which page you subscribed from. Subscribing takes effect at once; every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and using it removes the address.

If you sign in with Google or LinkedIn, we receive and store your name, email address, and profile picture from that provider. We never receive your password.

If you send a submission, we store the details you enter on that form.

What we do with it

We use your email address to send you essays you have asked for, and to reply to correspondence. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Where it is held

Subscriber and account records are held in a managed PostgreSQL database. Email is delivered through Resend. Both are processors acting on our instructions.

Cookies

If you only read the Review, we set no cookies at all. Browsing these pages stores nothing on your device, and we load no third-party scripts, so nothing else can either.

Cookies appear only if you choose to sign in, and only the ones that make signing in work: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, a token that protects the sign-in form against cross-site request forgery, a short-lived value that secures the exchange with your sign-in provider, and a note of the page to return you to. All are restricted to this site and unreadable by scripts.

There are no analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. Because the only cookies we set are strictly necessary for a service you have asked for, no consent banner is required — which is why you have not been shown one.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you may ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to erase it. Every email we send carries a one-click unsubscribe link. To exercise any other right, write to editor@theatheneumreview.com.
